Responsibilities
The 1st Watchkeeping Engineer on a dredger is responsible for monitoring and operating all engine room machinery during assigned watches. To ensure safe and efficient functioning of main engines, generators, pumps, and auxiliary systems. The role involves maintaining continuous watchkeeping as per company and maritime regulations. To promptly detect and respond to machinery alarms, faults, and abnormal conditions. To carry out routine inspections, readings, and performance monitoring of all equipment. To assist in preventive and corrective maintenance as directed by the Chief Engineer. To maintain proper logbooks, checklists, and engine room records. To ensure compliance with safety procedures, permit‑to‑work systems, and environmental regulations. To support fuel management, lubrication, and energy efficiency measures.
