Emergency nursing is a specialty within the nursing profession that encompasses the care of individuals across the life span who present with physical, emotional, or psychological alterations of health. Emergency nursing care is episodic, primary, and typically emergent or acute, but it also may be chronic in nature and occurs in a variety of care settings.
