Job Description
Training singular groups or variety of mixed animals for interaction, performance and medical behaviors as directed by Zoo Manager.
Responsibilities
- Husbandry and cleaning requirements for animals in training.
- Managing and providing diets in context to training.
- Providing companionship to animals and building relationships.
- Training behaviors using operant conditioning.
- Record keeping.
- Creating and executing training plans.
- Liaising with training manager in relation to animal’s welfare and mental state.
- Assisting veterinary doctors with treatment of animals.
- Educating other staff about correct handling procedures and safe training.
- Presenting animals on site and off site locations and events.
- Accepting changes of hours and days off as requested by Zoo Manager to attend events.
