Position Summary
Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Ship Hydrodynamics (tenure track) at the Department of Energy and Mechanical Engineering, Aalto University. The role leads the ship hydrodynamics field, contributing to cutting‑edge research, teaching, and service.
Responsibilities
- Advance research on calm‑water resistance, hydrodynamic loads, motions, and added resistance using targeted experiments, full‑scale operational data, and both high‑fidelity and reduced‑order models.
- Build a dedicated research team, secure funding from institutions such as the Research Council of Finland, Business Finland, and Horizon Europe, and foster applied and fundamental studies.
- Teach marine hydrostatics and hydrodynamics, linking theory with model‑ and full‑scale experiments and numerical methods for seakeeping, wave loads, and added resistance; supervise undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.
