Dr. Tutwiler’s lab is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team studying the biomechanics of blood clots in health and disease. The research will focus on understanding the mechanical properties of blood clots, including clot contraction, rupture resistance, and embolization potential, with relevance to thrombotic disorders such as venous thromboembolism (VTE) and pulmonary embolism (PE) and bleeding such as in gum disease.This project combines elements of hematology, biomechanics, and translational medicine, and aims to improve the understanding of how clot structure and function contribute to embolic risk — ultimately informing diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.
