Law Clerk Role and Responsibilities:
Commercial Litigation
- Prepare an arraignment of litigation documents, including statements of claim, statements of defence, replies, requests to admit, affidavits of documents, notices of examination, briefs, and orders.
- Deep familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure (Ontario), particularly regarding service, filing, and deadlines for court documents.
- Attend Examinations for discovery or cross-examinations with counsel and take relevant notes.
- Review transcripts, request and fulfill undertakings, under advisements, and refusals by liaising with clients.
- Manage and track multi-billion-dollar litigation, which includes arranging weekly team meetings and delegating relevant tasks, issuing statements of claim, tracking counsel information and every step within litigation
