Role Overview
The City of Airdrie seeks a Deputy Director of Emergency Management to oversee the Municipal Emergency Management Program, lead the Emergency Coordination Centre, Incident Command System instruction, and act as the city’s Business Continuity Plan advisor during widespread disruptions. The role manages a staff of approximately 150, interacts with regional and provincial partners, presents to elected officials, and oversees the program’s budget.
Responsibilities
- Ensure an effective emergency management program to manage large‑scale emergencies and disasters per the Province of Alberta Emergency Management Act and Regulation.
- Annually review and present the Municipal Emergency Management Plan/Program for audit, and follow up with City Council and Executive Leadership.
