Job Description
Responsibilities
- Strip down turbochargers, clean parts, and perform inspection for wear, damage, or failure, including checking bearing housing, shaft, turbine, and impeller.
- Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, dial gauges) to ensure tolerances for rotating parts are within manufacturer specifications.
- Reassemble turbochargers, ensuring proper balancing of the rotating assembly (shaft and wheels) to prevent premature failure.
- Operate workshop machinery such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders for cleaning or refurbishing components when necessary.
- Diagnose causes of turbocharger failure (e.g., oil starvation, foreign object damage, overheating) and provide technical advice.
