Job Description
Responsibilities
- Safely operate rail-mounted gantry and EOT cranes in accordance with manufacturer instructions, SOPs, and Qatar Steel HSE regulations.
- Lift, move and accurately position various loads (e.g., billets, rebar) using appropriate hoisting attachments such as electromagnets, hooks and slings.
- Assess load assembly, determine center of gravity and verify load safety prior to lifting.
- Operate crane controls (pedals, levers, buttons) to manage speed, direction and hoist movement based on written, verbal or signal instructions.
- Perform daily cleaning and routine maintenance of the crane and hoisting mechanisms.
- Conduct pre-operational and periodic inspections to identify defects or malfunctions; promptly report issues to the supervisor or maintenance team.
