A hydro plant mechanic is a journeyman mechanic who repairs, maintains and upgrades all types of mechanical and associated equipment and facilities in a hydro generating station.

+ Arc and gas weld power plant components and perform specialized work as a welder
+ Repair turbines and bearing systems
