Summary
The Histologist consistently provides excellent customer service to patients and customers of the laboratory and works closely with coworkers to meet the needs of physicians, nurses and patients. The Histologist is responsible for the cytological and histological tissue preparations for examination by the Pathologist, including frozen sections, autopsy tissues, surgical tissues, cytology cases, gross specimen photography, and gross tissue examinations. The Histologist is responsible for accurately and quickly performing a variety of duties within the Histology department including assisting in gross tissue examinations, embedding, cutting, stains, special stains, immuno-histochemical and immuno-fluorescent studies, filing, tracking and accessioning.
