You can paper an acquisition financing in your sleep. That's not the same as running one.
You're three, four years into leveraged finance. You've drafted credit agreements, negotiated intercreditor terms, cleared closing conditions at 1am, and managed the mechanics of more LBO financings than you can count. But the partner is the one talking to the arranger. The partner is the one the sponsor calls. You're executing the deal — you're just not in the room where it gets shaped.
