Assistant – Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre
Role: 20 hours, permanent position over 3 days covering Monday to Friday.
Based ‘front‑of‑house’ in the Centre to triage enquiries, provide personalised information and support about cancer services, and help people navigate the health and social care system.
Post holder will supervise and guide volunteers in the absence of the MCIM and advisor, demonstrate organisational and communication skills, act autonomously in managing emotive and complex situations and support the delivery of the National Cancer Strategy.
Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret the needs of individuals attending/contacting the service responding effectively to their needs providing a professional quality service
- Triage individuals face‑to‑face or by telephone/email and work autonomously to prioritise needs
- Deal with difficult and highly emotive situations in a sensitive manner
