Job Description
The Media Specialist works collaboratively with the Perioperative Nurse and Operating Room technician to provide support and assistance with the microscopes, endoscopes, light sources and video/recording systems.Essential Duties:
+ Assembles and operates microscopes, lasers, endoscopes, audio-visual recording, and other equipment in a safe, efficient and effective manner.
+ Performs preventive maintenance, and makes minor repairs and adjustments on equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
+ Supports the staff by making minor repairs to the OR equipment, such as changing light bulbs and fuses.
+ Collaborates with Clinical Coordinators in OR to assist with miscellaneous assignments as required, i.e., assisting with case carts, retrieving equipment from OPSC when necessary and acting as a facilitator for OR team
+ Applies appropriate aseptic technique and follows policies in disinfecting or sterilizing endoscopes.
