Duties
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care. Major duties and responsibilities of the position include:
- Independent clinical evaluation of Veterans including prevention and patient self-management.
- Comprehensive primary care provided to male and female Veterans, including diagnosing and treating acute and chronic diseases, educating on health promotion/disease prevention, and ensuring health maintenance is up to date.
- Completes physical examinations to formulate evidence-based treatment plans and engages in shared medical decision making.
- Care may be provided in various modalities: direct face to face, virtual (including telephonic, video, secured messaging, and others).
- Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
