A forwarder coordinates independently the logistics orders based on the procedures requested or pre-imposed by the customer.

The responsibilities of the Ocean Freight Forwarder are:

  • Gather and check the shipment information
  • Receive, record and validate customer order in the TMS taking into consideration our offer (quotation, SOP)
  • Define the execution plan (routing) versus the operational constraints (embargoes, Transit Time, Cost,) (with Middle Office solutions)
  • Collect all required documents (commercial invoice, packing list, etc.)
  • Handle shipments
  • Check the availability of cargo and provide confirmation that shipping can proceed
  • Optimize the operational execution and perform the transportation plan (booking) (with Middle Office solutions)
  • Input up to date information regarding the shipment in the TMS
