**General Summary**

Apply paints and various coatings to all types of surfaces. Detach and reattach wall mounted pictures, equipment and devices.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

+ Improves and maintains the overall interior appearance by painting and redecorating walls, woodwork and fixtures. Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications.
+ Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices, applies paint with a spray gun or brush.
+ May mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.
+ In general, the work of the maintenance painter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
+ Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of the work areas including the workshop.
