Summary The Pharmacy Technician (Automation/Controlled Substances) functions as the automation and controlled substances specialist in all patient care areas of pharmacy service, focusing on both inpatient and outpatient settings. This position is performed above the full performance level and requires expert understanding of the complexities of automation and controlled substance programs. Responsibilities Automation (Automated Dispensing, Outpatient and Inpatient/Clinic) Duties include, but not limited to: Controlled Substances Duties include but not limited to: (1) Provides for the security of controlled substances by controlling access to storage areas, and by ensuring that controlled substances are always kept in the locked, supervised area, specifically designated for controlled substance storage (hereafter referred to as the cage or vault).
