Job Description

About the position:  

The local government sector is experiencing era-scale change. Central government reform processes with significant implications for our sector are rolling out and we need to plan for a future role which looks very different to the last 30 years. In this context, strategic thinking and analysis is critical to a large organisation like Christchurch City Council.

A crucial member of the Strategic Policy & Resilience team, the Principal Advisor Policy takes responsibility for:

  • Providing thought leadership across a wide range of strategy and policy issues
  • Analysing the strategic impacts for Council of the Government reform programme, and in engaging across our sector and central Government
  • Mentoring team members analysing a range of complex policy problems
  • Providing advice to the operational side of Council
