Role
Prisoner Custody Officer (PCO) – Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS). Key responsibilities include escorting, supervising and ensuring the welfare of detainees during court proceedings and maintaining security.
Salary and working hours: £24,596 for 35 hours per week, rising to £25,555 from 1 September 2026, with clear progression up to £27,180 by Year 4. The role operates 24/6 on early and late shifts. Shift rota is provided 12 weeks in advance. Part‑time work may be considered across full working days.
Key Duties
- Escort detainees within court premises, to courtrooms, cells and other facilities.
- Supervise detainees during hearings to maintain safety and security.
- Manage sensitive situations and maintain strict confidentiality.
