HarperCollins Canada is seeking a Production Editor to support the production editorial process for a wide variety of titles, both fiction and nonfiction, across diverse subjects and voices.
Responsibilities
- Handle production editorial work from manuscript through bound book for various formats, including novels and nonfiction titles.
- Assess and style manuscripts using proprietary Microsoft Word and Harper’s proprietary software for copyediting, design, and composition.
- Hire and oversee freelance copy editors and indexers.
- Collate and process proofreads and slugs in Adobe Acrobat; check all stages of proofs and PDFs for interiors.
- Copyedit flap and back cover copy and proofread and check all stages of jacket/cover proofs.
- Work with editors, designers, authors, managing editors, and production managers to anticipate and resolve problems.
