Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Rail Wagon Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of freight wagons. This is a hands-on engineering role involving inspection, maintenance and repair work to ensure wagons remain reliable for ongoing service.


The Role:

  • Inspect freight wagons and accurately record findings on inspection sheets

  • Carry out planned and reactive repairs including welding, roof panel work, curtain (bache) repairs and general mechanical tasks

  • Perform brake tests and safety checks

  • Calibrate wheelsets and report findings to the team supervisor

  • Review components and spares required for upcoming repairs

  • Liaise with on-site rail operations teams regarding wagon movements and repair scheduling
