Job Description
The Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) registered nurse leads the response for patient emergencies within the hospital and utilizes the nursing process and approved protocols to ensure evidenced based intervention is provided. The RN is the lead for a core of multidisciplinary members who collaborate on the care and escalate assistance as needed. The CCOT RN performs ongoing surveillance of patients seen and intervenes as appropriate. This clinician is a resource for nursing staff in the recognition and management of decompensating and high acuity patients. A dynamic environment requires the CCOT RN to make independent decisions and judgments that support high quality care. The Critical Care Outreach RN manages requests through autonomous triage, negotiation and prioritization.
