About the Role
We are an eight‑bed unit with a multi‑cultural team providing care to both adults and paediatric patients, specializing in head and neck and burns, with new renal replacement therapy capability. The unit offers intensive care and high‑dependency patient care in a supportive environment that encourages openness, honesty and inclusiveness, and offers opportunities for educational development.
About the Team & Service
The ICU has expanded from four to eight beds, supported by additional staff, equipment and training. It serves the Hutt Valley District as a tertiary referral centre for plastic, oral‑maxillofacial and burns patients, and supports orthopaedics, general medicine and surgical care. Major trauma patients are not managed in the unit but may be prepared for transfer.
