Job Description

Rig Electrician required on contract basis for 12 months.

Qualification and Experience

  • Matric (Preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years overall field experience at oil and gas drilling rigs.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a rig electrician.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • The rig electrician installs and connects electrical equipment such as SCR/VFD houses, MCCs, generators, motors, transformers, switchgear, lighting systems, drilling instrumentation, CCTV monitoring and communication systems on the drilling rig.
  • Assists in disconnection, packaging and preparation of equipment for rig moves, including reconnection at new locations.
  • Performs routine maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
