  About the Unit: 5 North is a 26-bed General Surgery specialty unit. We are categorized as a Med-Surg Unit but are primarily surgical volume. We specialize in:
  Elective bariatric weight loss surgery - these patients are optimized for surgery and typically have a 24-hour stay and are up and ambulating on post-op day 0. General Surgery - appendectomies, cholecystectomies, small bowel obstruction, etc. Ortho - Foot and ankle, as well as ortho hand, and some ortho trauma Urology surgery
  A Nurse on our Unit will gain experience in drains of all kinds, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, DHT, continu...
