Job Description
Evaluates all cytology specimens accurately and renders a preliminary diagnosis. Assists the pathologists in fine needle aspirations. Assumes responsibility for quality control, instrument maintenance, and safety of work area. Performs preparation work as necessary. Performs molecular testing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
+ Must be licensed as a Cytotechnologist by the New York State Education Department.
+ Associate Degree in Cytotechnology or related science field required. In lieu of required degree, equivalent experience may be considered. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
+ Must meet NYS Department of Health qualifications for Cytotechnologist as stated in Public Health Law Part 58.1-1.5.
