Basic Function
Accessions and processes pathology specimens. Embeds processed tissue, cuts the blocks embedded, stains and coverslips the slides. Delivers prepared slides and corresponding slips and special staining as requested or assigned.
Requirements
Must be licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Certified Histological Technician by the New York State Education Department and ASCP certified as Histotechnician (HT). Associate degree in science. Medical Laboratory Technology-Histology program preferred. Must possess high degree of accuracy, exhibit responsible behavior. Must possess good communication skills and be able to work independently. Able to serve the needs of patients ages neonatal to geriatric. Able to deal with all types of customers in a pleasant, professional manner. Able to perform assigned duties in a timely manner with moderate supervisi...
