Job Description

The Role

The Children’s Emergency provides initial evaluation, stabilisation and treatment to acutely ill or injured infants and children.

Key accountabilities

  • Manage and plan the care management of individual patient using the 4-prong Systematic Approach to Nursing Delivery comprising Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.

  • Identification, stabilisation and treatment of all acute paediatric emergencies (medical, surgical & trauma)

  • Paediatric Injury Surveillance and Paediatric Trauma Registry

  • Child safety patient education and Monitoring of paediatric poisonings

  • Management of victims of non-accidental injury 

  • Participate in action plans for the unit to enhance employee engagement and maximise employee performance

  • Carry out physicians’ treatment/investigations as ordered.
