Job Overview

Specialty Doctor – Anaesthetics & Critical Care at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT). The role involves clinical anaesthesia and critical care provision across operating theatres, day‑surgery unit, intensive care unit (ICU) and high‑dependency unit (HDU), as well as teaching and audit responsibilities.

Main Duties

• Provide 8.5 Professional Activity (PA) per week of clinical anaesthesia/critical care, including daytime and out‑of‑hours work.
• Provide 1.5 PA per week of Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) covering audit, governance, training, research, and re‑validation.
• Share clinical cover within the department, covering consultant, specialty doctor, associate specialist and resident doctor roles where appropriate.
• Participate in elective and emergency surgery lists (half‑ or full‑day, 4–8 hours) and allocate an extra hour per half‑day for pre‑operative assessment and post‑operative care.
