Job Description
The Atlanticis seeking an ambitious staff writer to join the newsroom. This writer will cover the media, and should have a keen interest in how the fourth estate operates right now: How the news industry is adapting to technological changes; how consolidation and closures affect the broader informational environment; how news organizations understand their responsibility to the public; and how they are positioning themselves vis-a-vis the administration. It’s a role for someone who’d love to write about newspapers, Substackers, TV networks, business leaders, influencers, and all the other players in this space.
Although previous experience on this beat is not required, this staff writer will need to cultivate high-level sources at new and established outlets in pursuit of big, conversation-starting articles that will appeal to broad audiences (not just industry insiders).
