The Surgical Physician Assistant (PA)/ Nurse Practitioner provides patient care in collaboration with specific surgeons face-to-face or via telehealth on communication devices such as phone or computer. Conducts surgical history/physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic/lab tests and develops plan of care. Writes prescriptions, controlled substances per Delineation of Privileges. First assists in surgery. Performs surgical procedures in the operating room under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Performs procedures in the clinic under direct or indirect supervision.
