The Surgical Technician (OR TECH) under the supervision of an Operating Room Registered Nurse, assists in providing nursing care to a designated population in collaboration with the members of the health care team.
+ Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping etc.
+ demonstrates proper scrubbing skills, handles, and passes instrumentation utilizing aseptic technique and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.
+ Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.
+ Collaborates with circulating nurse in room preparation, selecting supplies, and equipment is organized fashion.
+ Creates, maintains, and monitors the sterile field continuously.
+ Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition.
