About the Role
As a Switchboard Telephonist, you will:
Operate screen-based console and keyboard systems in a fast-paced, highly demanding environment.Answer and service all incoming calls, greeting callers, providing information, and transferring calls efficiently.Route emergency calls and ensure all emergency procedures are followed according to departmental and Trust policies (including cardiac arrest, traumas, fire calls, and disaster/emergency situations).Operate paging systems to broadcast messages to various stakeholders.Update records related to directory information and on-call rotas.Monitor alarm systems and take appropriate action as per standard operating procedures.Ensure a smooth handover to the next operator at the end of your shift.
