Summary
This role involves leading and delivering services for the identification, analysis, case management, and review of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are at risk of, or involved in, appeal hearings with the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal Service (SENDIST). The position requires representing the Council at appeal hearings, ensuring compliance with legislation, best practices, and budgetary requirements, while providing a solution-focused, client-oriented service to minimize parental recourse to SENDIST.
Responsibilities
- Manage and progress complex tribunal cases (approximately 145–150 annually) within statutory and legal frameworks.
- Represent the Council at SENDIST hearings and prepare detailed case documentation.
- Liaise with parents, schools, legal representatives, and multi‑agency professionals to resolve disputes effectively.
